How skin ages throughout our life
NEWBORN
When born and throughout babyhood, skin is soft, thin and immature. The skin is constantly renewing itself during this period.
TEEN
Throughout teen years, hormonal levels rise and as a result our skin reacts with pimples or acne. More frequent sun exposure compared to babyhood, squeezing acne and not enough skin contribute to damaged skin.
ADULTHOOD
The real changes become apparent from the age of 25 years old. The production of collagen begins to slow down, and pigmentation starts to come to the fore. Now it is prevention that matters most and should be prioritised, as opposed to curing the damage.
MID LIFE
Due to the quantity of hyaluronic acid decreasing as well as subcutaneous fat, blood vessels, defective collagen and elastin, pigmentation and wrinkles appear. Whilst some wrinkles appear due to constant muscular activity, majority of the wrinkles show due to the changes inside the skin.
OLDER AGE
With menopause approaching, the skin changes again and becomes thinner. Now more than ever, sun and other skin damages would leave deep wrinkles and pigmentations on the skin to make it look older.
SENIOR YEARS
During our senior years, the skin looks extremely worn and large numbers of deep wrinkles are present. Whilst there is nothing that can counteract wrinkles or other skin damage, understanding the origin of the damage, whether it is due to an environmental aspect or not, helps to avoid further skin damage in the coming years.
Now that we know how our skin develops through different stages of our lives, we can take the right measures to decrease the chance of skin damage and therefore accelerated ageing.
Supplementing the body daily with Eridani Premium Marine Collagen helps to improve skin elasticity and firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
